Sara Pollard is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with over 18 years of experience in supportive roles within veterinary practices. After personally experiencing the loss of a colleague to suicide early in her career, Sara made it her mission to advocate for mental health and wellness within the veterinary and healthcare fields. This commitment has shaped her career and driven her to create resources and systems of support for veterinary professionals, aiming to address the unique emotional challenges they face.

Sara's background in social work includes valuable internships with the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation (TXMHMR), now part of the Texas Department of State Health Services, where she supported individuals with mental illness and developmental disabilities. She also interned with Meals on Wheels, providing vital social services, including safety checks, nutritious meals, and social connection to seniors and disabled individuals. These experiences deepened her understanding of the importance of accessible mental health resources and the need for community support.

Now, Sara is focused on integrating mental health support into veterinary practice. She is passionate about creating a sustainable culture of care, resilience, and support for those in the veterinary field. Sara is committed to advocating for better mental health resources, not only for veterinarians but for all healthcare workers, believing strongly that those who care for others must have advocates to support their own well-being.
